As another academic year nears its end, another class of residents moves on to the next chapter in their medical careers. Divya Batra, MD and Wessam Labib, MD are graduating from the Dixon Rural Training Track in Family Medicine as the second round of physicians ever to do so.
The residency program began in 2004 with the collaboration of KSB and the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. The family medicine residency program at U of I expanded to include rural medicine, a still growing but important field vital to areas of Illinois and the Midwest, as well as to other parts of the country and the world. For four years, KSB has been the center to provide the education and experience necessary to these residents interested in this particular brand of medicine, and has benefited from the service they have provided to the Sauk Valley.
